Edward Marcus

Edward John Marcus of Wallaceburg passed away peacefully on January 9, 2024, with his loving wife, Yvonne, by his side, at the age of 87 years. Edward was one of four children born to the late Frank and Bertha (Janssens) Marcus and is survived by his brother Ron (Mary Lou) Marcus, and his sister-in-law Yolande (late Maurice) Marcus. He is also predeceased by his sister, Annie (late George) VanRuymbeke. Fondly remembered by Yvonne’s brother, Mauritz (late Rachel) De Bruyne, and predeceased by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Alfred and Madeleine De Bruyne, Willy and Leta De Bruyne and Frederick and Dianne De Bruyne. Much-loved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Ed and Yvonne were married on November 18, 1961, and built a beautiful life together farming on Langstaff Line, just outside of Wallaceburg. Their loving journey would span over 62 years. It was on the family farm that they raised two children: Colleen (Stephen) Gleeson and Matthew (Renee) Marcus. Ed was immensely proud of his children and four grandchildren: Marcus (Julie) and Griffin Gleeson, and Christopher and Laura Marcus. He was also blessed with three great-granddaughters, Erin, Kayla, and Jade Gleeson. Ed cultivated a love for family and made sure they felt his love. In his later years, Ed took great joy in helping Matthew farm the land and cherished family gatherings and daily conversations with his family. Although Ed experienced health challenges later in life, with Yvonne by his side, he continued to live a full and rewarding life. His gentle, quiet manner and genuine smile will be dearly missed. In keeping with Ed's wishes, family and friends are invited to memorial visitation at Our Lady Help of Christians Church on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 9:30am until the time of his Funeral Mass at 11am. His urn will be buried at Riverview Cemetery at a later date.
