****Service Update**** Please join Ron's family in celebrating his life on SATURDAY, AUGUST 13, 2022 from 3 PM – 5 PM at the Wallaceburg Christian Reformed Church (150 Bruinsma Ave, Wallaceburg) It is with heavy hearts that we must say goodbye (for now) to Ronald Eric Haveman of Port Lambton, Ontario, who passed away on March 9, 2022, from the progression of a brain tumor, at the age of 64. Ron died peacefully at Bluewater Health, with his beloved wife, Joyce, by his side. Ron was born in Toronto on March 12, 1957. Raised in the Christian Reformed Church, influenced by his faith, and increasingly aware of the Holy Spirit’s presence, Ron strove to please the Lord in all his ways. Ron navigated life with purpose, wisdom and determination toward this end. Ron’s youth in rural Ontario encouraged his love of nature and of gardening. He was educated at Lakehead University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering in 1982. He went on to build his own business, Protech Equipment Design, through which he served both nationally and internationally, primarily in the Sarnia chemical valley. In 1981, Ron married the love of his life, his beautiful wife, Joyce. Together they built a wonderful life, having 8 children and 14 grandchildren by the time of his death. Together they were actively involved in their various church families and enjoyed building their hobby farm on Pretty Road. While Ron’s last months were filled with pain and the loss of his physical abilities, his encouragement was to look to the Lord and follow Him with all his heart. His faith sustained him and his family, who are assured by the promise of reunion where there is no more pain or tears. Today we grieve, but know that he celebrates with Jesus, finally entering into His rest. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation and gratitude to Dr. David Kim, his associates and all the wonderful nurses and staff, especially the Rehab and Palliative Departments of Bluewater Health (Sarnia). Survived by his wife, Joyce (Van Kesteren). Loving father to: Jocelyn (Mitchell) Kraayenbrink, Leah Haveman, Sarah (Michael) Bailey, Becky (Jared) Baker, Esther (Adam) McLinn, Josiah (Justine) Haveman, Hannah (Colin) Peters, and Jillian (Josiah) Stauffer. He will be missed by his fourteen grandchildren: George and Angus (Kraayenbrink); Ethan, Sammy and Isaac (Bailey); Vivian, Josiah, Benjamin and William (Baker); Ian, Gunnar and baby (McLinn); Talitha (Haveman); and Zinnia (Peters). Dear brother of: Carla (Brian) Pacheco, Liz (Casey) Vanderveen, Dave (Melinda) Haveman, and the late John (Connie) Haveman. Family and Friends are all invited for visitation at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg (519.627.3231) on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Ron will be laid to rest on Monday March 14th during a private graveside ceremony. A celebration of Ron’s life this summer will be announced at a later date.
