Robert "Bob" Gurd Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gurd, Robert “Bob” Wayne a resident of Wallaceburg, was a Retired Inspector from International Harvester-Navistar, an avid Curler, proud team winner of two Ontario Provincial Curling Championships, former Ice Technician at the Sydenham Community Curling Club and Card Club player. With deep emotion on a cool fall night, a relentless tease, surrounded by family, friends and the minister Bob went peacefully at home, on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the age of 70. Bob is the beloved son of the late Arthur and Mary (McAvoy) Gurd. Beloved and fun loving husband of Janice (Rothery). Loving father of Jennifer Mireault (Dave), Stephanie Laurin (Darrin) and Rob Gurd (Ang). Cherished and embraced grandfather of Wade Gurd (Suzy), Cody Gurd, Miranda Mireault, Carson Mireault, Gabrielle Laurin and Bradley Laurin. Dear brother of Greg (Barb), Jack (Marg), Todd (Deb) and brother-in-law of Janet Lashmore (late Brian), Jim Rothery (Deb) and the late Roszanne Bechard. Nephew of the late Jack Gurd (surviving spouse Lue), Rita Munroe and Barbara Magee. Greatly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Lifelong friend and honourary pallbearer Robbie Simpson. Pallbearers the Gurd nephews Chris, Jason, Scott, Jeff, Ryan and nephew James (Jay) Rothery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral service in the chapel on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 1 PM. Interment at Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg. Following fellowship at the Sydenham Community Curling Club.
