Lyle Stratton

Lyle Maurice “Stratty” Stratton, a life long resident of Wallaceburg, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family at the Public General Campus in Chatham on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the age of 84. Lyle was the son of the late Hilton & Verna (Cox) Stratton. He was the beloved husband of Elsie (Matej) for 56 years. He was the loving father of Brent Stratton (Wendy), Leslie Johnson (Edward) and Dan Stratton (Jane). He was the dear "Grandpa" of Matthew, Alanna, Natalie, Luke and Jack. He was the brother of Wayne Stratton and Lois Myers (Glen). He was predeceased by his brothers Arthur (Vera), Darrel and Don. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Joan and Catherine and many nieces and nephews. His early work life included being employed at Dominion Glass and operating his business, "House of Stereo". He later worked for Sears as a television technician. Lyle was a member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed singing in the choir and the quartet. After retirement, he enjoyed working on odd jobs with his friends there. Stratty loved music. He played the trumpet in the Wallaceburg Kiltie Band and the Bob Jacks Band. After he retired, he began piano lessons. Stratty enjoyed spending summers with his family at the trailer at Ipperwash Beach, globe-trotting, playing golf, and curling. The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Monday. The funeral will be celebrated at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 15 at 11 AM. Cremation with burial in Riverview Cemetery at a later date.
