Jean Mary Aerts, nee Oomen, of Wallaceburg, passed away peacefully in Chatham on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the age of 92. Jean was born in Alphen N.Br. Netherlands, daughter of the late Josephus & Maria (Van Den Broek) Oomen. Beloved wife of the late Anthony ‘Tony’ Aerts (1999). Loving mother of Mary VanDamme (Lionel Ouellette) (the late John VanDamme), Louise VanDamme (Ken), Margaret Janssens (Chris) and Martin Aerts. Dear grandmother of Daniel VanDamme (Jean), Steven VanDamme (Jessie), Sheri McRobbie (Scott), Paul VanDamme (Nichole) and Krystle Knight (Pete) and great grandmother of Krista, Randy, Tara & Aiden VanDamme, Brianna & Julia McRobbie, Owen Knight and baby VanDamme on the way. Loved sister of Jan Oomen (Wies) and the late Net DeJong (Gust), Annie Baeten (Henk) and Cor Verhoeven (Piet). Sister-in-law of Jan ‘Brother Martinus’ Aerts and the late Cor Zoontjens (Bert), Marie Geerts (Gust) and Nel Delaat (Jan). Daughter-in-law of the late Martinus & Louise (Kools) and Maria Theresia (Timmermans) Aerts. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Jean was a faith filled and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who treasured her many friends and was a member of the Catholic Women’s League. Family and Friends are invited for visitation at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 5-8 PM on Sunday. The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Holy Family Church on Monday, June 27 at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Riverview Cemetery.
