Faye Massey

June 3, 2022

Faye R Massey (Gallie) passed away peacefully in Bluewater Hospital Sarnia June 3rd at the age of 84. Born Jan 8, 1938 in Eldon Parish, New Brunswick she was the daughter of Hiram and Dorothy (Thomas) Gallie. Growing up in the tight knit community of Tide Head New Brunswick she was very proud of her Restigouche roots. Faye attended Roman Catholic schools in Tide Head, Matapedia and Dieppe and maintained a lifelong love of learning. After completing her education, Faye began working in the restaurant industry, and then on to Zellers where she became a department head at the age of 17. She then began her career in the plastics auto industry, in both the quality control and production departments. She was the first woman supervisor to be hired at Firestone Steel in London, Ontario, and held a certificate as a “Chain Slinger”, where she supervised the Steel Bay department. The last 10 years of her working career was as the Quality Control Manager at Ray Plastics in Toronto. Faye was very proud of her French ancestry beginning in Port Royal, Nova Scotia. Her research took her on a journey of family origins and the proven research by John Mack Faragher (A Great and Noble Scheme). Her credentials were validated of French and Native Heritage. This data was further validated by the University of Dalhousie and subsequently she joined the Nova Scotia Soirquois Metis Nation. Faye enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In her leisure time she enjoyed genealogy (writing several books), reading, needlepoint, movies, bird watching and going fishing with Vince on Long Point Bay. Faye will be sadly missed by her loving husband Vincent R Massey, children Lori (Roger) Johnson, Ernie (Cheryl) Martin, Steven (Nancy) Martin. Stepmother to Lori (Les) Pressell, Lisa (Bill) Thorpe, Vicky (GJ) Vandenbrink. Grandmother to Eric, Matthew, Morgan, Mallory, Max, Tiffany, Amber, Chelsey, Jake and Grant. Great grandmother to Sullivan. Loving Aunt and great Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Hiram and Dorothy Gallie, her brothers Wyman, Junior and Ronald and by two sons Jeffery Martin and Stanley Gallie. “Look for me in the people I loved for love never dies”
