Emilia "Emily" McEldon

Better known as “Emily” to her friends and “Auntie Emi” to her family; daughter of Mr. George Henry McEldon and Mrs. Pearl (nee Clarke), was born in Bueno Aires, Argentina on May 28, 1927. In 1955 she decided to live in Canada and eventually moved to the town of Wallaceburg, Ontario where she put down roots. Her brother Carlos Arturo McEldon married Joan Donna (nee Forden) and their family consisted of three children; Brenda, Scott and David. Eventually Brenda married Greg MacDonald and now have two boys Cameron and Owen; Scott married Sandra Morgan and have four children; Victoria, Shawn, Charlie and Abigail; and David married Michelle Brolly and have Lauren. Emily became an Elementary School Teacher and worked for 20 years at Walpole Island Indian Reserve. Emily became a member of Trinity United Church in Wallaceburg, where she became a Sunday School Teacher. She also taught the literacy class of the Rotary Club of Wallaceburg for 20 years. Emily had a busy and fulfilling single life and died at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Friday, June 12, 2015 at the age of 88. The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg on Monday, June 22, 2015 from 10am until time of funeral service in the chapel at 11 am. Interment Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg at 2 pm. If desired, remembrances to Sleeping Children Around the World may be left at the funeral home. 519.627.3231.
