Rose Craig

June 1, 1930 – March 30, 2025 Rose Marie Craig (Ronson) passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025 at the age 94 at the Blenheim Community Village Long Term Care Centre. Rose was predeceased by her loving husband Ernie, her parents Bruce and Margaret and younger sister Marjorie. She is survived by her daughter Sharon (Mark); son David (Andrea); and her grandchildren Samuel, Maggie and Ella. Rose was born in Chatham on June 1st, 1930, and grew up on a farm in Kent Bridge before moving to Wallaceburg where she would go on to create a beautiful life filled with love and cherished memories in the little house on Murray Street. While working at the TD Bank in Wallaceburg, Rose met Ernie (Craig) and they married in the fall of 1953. Rose and Ernie were married for more than 70 years. Together, they created several lasting friendships and spent countless joyful hours doing community activities, including badminton, square dancing and playing cards. Rose was known for her love of cooking, gardening, arts and crafts. She had an incredible “green thumb” and was fond of Lee Valley Tools, requiring two garden sheds and a garage to house all the tools and accessories she acquired over the years. Rose was a generous neighbour who often shared her cooking and produce from her garden. Together, Rose and Ernie raised two wonderful children, Sharon and David. She was a huge supporter of their academic and sporting endeavors with her unwavering support and encouragement being instrumental in their achievements. She also loved being a grandmother, always curating special gifts and treats for them on her frequent trips locally and across the border to Port Huron. She and Ernie loved taking them for a drive along the St. Clair River to watch the freighters and enjoy an ice cream or some french fries with them. Rose knew how to enjoy the simple things in life. As we say goodbye to Rose, we hold on to the love she gave so subtly and the beautiful memories we shared. The memorial service will be at Pardoville Union Cemetery,7741 Talbot Trail, Chatham-Kent, Ontario May 3, 2025, at 11:00 am.
