Joan Brown

With broken hearts and endless love, we announce the peaceful passing of Joan Margaret Brown of Mooretown, who passed away surrounded by her family on February 21, 2026, at the age of 75. Joan was the daughter of Edgar and Margaret (Densley) Belanger. Joan was the devoted and loved wife of Glen Brown for the past 55 years. She was the loving mother to their children Wendy (John) Cordeiro, Keith Brown, Ron (Mary) Brown, and Laura Brown. She was the grandmother of Bailey (Mykayla), Alyssa, Mason, Hailee, Jesse and Soma. Joan was the great-grandmother of Aaliyah, and Beau. She will be missed by her siblings Yvonne Brady, Harry (Helen) Belanger, Mickey (late, Gary) Ayotte, and John (Pat) Belanger. Joan had the most caring and gentle soul. She welcomed everyone exactly as they were, never judging, always understanding. Her smile could light up a room, but more than that, it made you feel safe. You could see her love and encouragement in her eyes without her ever saying a word. She had a heart of pure gold—the kind that gave freely, never keeping track and never asking for anything in return. No one ever left her home without a full belly, a warm cup of tea, and a reminder that they truly mattered. Even when we didn’t have much, she shared whatever we did have. Helping others wasn’t something she did; it was who she was. For 55 beautiful years, she shared a marriage rooted in deep love, devotion, laughter, and unwavering partnership with her beloved husband. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and commitment. Through every season, joyful celebrations, quiet evenings, challenges, and triumphs, they stood side by side. Their love was steady and enduring, a true example of dedication and friendship, filled with countless memories, traditions, and moments of fun that shaped our family’s story. As a faithful member of the Catholic Women's League of Canada and a devoted volunteer in her community, she gave generously of her time and spirit. In her work as a librarian and computer technician with the St. Clair Catholic District School Board, she touched the lives of students and colleagues alike. She believed in every child, especially those who struggled to believe in themselves, and she quietly made a difference that will never be forgotten. Her creativity was a beautiful part of who she was. She was always on the move, always thinking of someone else, and always ready to lend a helping hand. A caregiver through and through, she carried the weight of others’ worries as if they were her own. She loved animals deeply, found peace and joy on the golf course as an avid and accomplished golfer, and approached life with determination and grace. Above all, she loved her children and grandchildren more than anything in this world. She celebrated every accomplishment, big or small, and her pride in her family was unwavering. She created a sacred pocket in our hearts filled with love—a space that will forever hold her warmth, her laughter, her gentle guidance, and her steady presence. Everyone who met her loved her because she made people feel seen, accepted, and truly valued. She was our angel on earth, our steady light, and our example of what it means to live selflessly and love wholeheartedly. We will miss her more than words can ever express. She will be forever loved, always remembered, and never forgotten by all who knew her. We have been incredibly blessed to call her ours. As a family, we are deeply grateful to the compassionate staff of St. Joseph’s Hospice Sarnia. Their kindness, dignity, and gentle care brought comfort and peace during the most difficult time of our lives. You cared not only for our loved one, but for all of us, and for that, we will be forever thankful. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg on Thursday, February 26 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11am at Sacred Heart Church on Friday, February 27, 2026. Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
