Heather Blake

It is with profound sadness and loss that we announce the passing of Heather Lynn Blake, a mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and one of the kindest, most gentle souls ever to grace this world. Heather passed away at the age of 47 at her home in Wallaceburg on Sunday, February 22, 2015. She leaves behind her husband of 24 years, Jim, her beloved son Brett and stepchildren Jim of Wallaceburg and Shannon of Victoria, B.C.. Heather was the daughter of Nancy and (the late) Bruce McCorkell of Harwich Twp. She leaves behind sisters Charlene, Darlene and Laura; and brothers David and Kelly. She was predeceased by brothers Scott and Bradley. She loved the sun, boating and being outdoors as long as it wasn't "too coldy." She loved to read, watch television and spend time with her family. She loved her cottage on Lake Nosbonsing. She was the most competitive non-competitive person ever. She loved watching curling, baseball, football and auto racing. Heather had a strong sense of humour that would catch you when you least expected it. Her amazing blue eyes were the windows to a soul which was far too fragile for the things life threw at her. Twice a cancer survivor, she greeted everyone with a warm smile and a genuine interest in their well-being, regardless of what was returned. She didn't ever seek the spotlight, but stepped into it to co-chair the first United Way campaign to ever raise $2 million dollars. If someone needed help, she would be there. Heather will be missed by her many customers and business contacts at The Chatham Daily News where she worked for more than two decades. She loved, and in return she was loved more than she ever knew. A celebration of Heather’s life will be held at the CAVANAGH RECEPTION CENTRE, 416 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg on Friday, February 27 at 1:30 PM. A time of fellowship and refreshment will follow.
