Clayton Crow

Clayton Francis Crow of Dover Centre passed away peacefully at Riverview Gardens in Chatham on Friday, August 22, 2025 at the age of 87. Clayton was the son of the late Walter Charles & Marian Rebecca (Johnston) Crow. Beloved husband of Mary Ellen (Harris). Loving father of Colleen Morgulis (Lewis), Maureen Crow, Eileen VanGrinsven (Chris), John Crow (Tricia) and Wayne Crow. Dear grandfather of Elizabeth, Siobhan (Darius), Sierra (Nessa), Christine (Art), Heather, Curtis (Courtney), Ashley (Dan), Andrea, Sarah, Meagan and Jack. He had many great-grandchildren whom he adored; Mia, Zari, Olivia, Lucy, Ruby, Reed, Lucas, Emily, Mackenzie and Austin. He was the brother of the late Marlene Massender (Larry) and the late Wayne Crow. Remembered fondly as a brother-in-law to Teresa Lucier (the late Don) and by his nieces and nephews Clare Quinlan (John), Pat DeRidder (Pat), Bill Lucier (Gwen) and the late Brian (Jackie) Crow. Clayton was easy to get to know, a kind soul with a huge heart, and time for everyone. He loved spending time with you at the important events in your life. Clayton loved farming, family, God, and Mary Ellen, his best friend and the love of his life for 65 years. Clayton and Mary Ellen loved family traditions and holidays; a full Christmas table was always welcomed, as were all the boyfriends and girlfriends, the extended family, and eventually, the table spilled into the living room. Easter gatherings were another time to get together, complete with a pickerel supper on Good Friday and a barbecue on Easter Sunday. Clayton had annual hunting and fishing trips with family and friends and loved being outdoors. Each event, and there were many, was never as important as the people he spent time with; he just enjoyed your company so much. He listened well and spoke with purpose, never wasting words. There was always time for a game of cribbage, a hand of euchre or two, or time for a good chat. He led by example and taught us all about hard work, showing us that if there was time left in the day, there was probably something that needed to be done. He gave his time willingly to the Ontario Farm Association, Corn and Soybean Boards and was especially proud to celebrate the International Plowing Match in 2018. With many of his accomplishments, he was proud to be a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus member. We are all better for having had him in our lives here on earth, and look forward to seeing him again in the life to come. Rest in peace, Clayton. You were the best of us, and your legacy will live on in everything we do. Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, located at 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 28. The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Holy Family Church on Friday at 11 with interment to follow at Riverview Cemetery.
