Brian Slack

Brian Slack, a resident of Wallaceburg, passed away on November 16, 2021 at the age of 81. Loving husband of 58 years to Edith Slack. Brian was born in Sunderland, England, to Elsie and Joseph Slack. Predeceased by his older brother Joseph (2020). Father of Julie (Stevan) Campbell, Dianne, Clare (Dave) Babbitt, and Helen (Darren) Harvey. Grandad of Mark, Michael, Ryan, Andrew, Macey, and Allie. Brian was a Millwright and Mechanical Engineer in England. After emigrating to Wallaceburg in 1982 he managed several different factories in the area for 25 years, making countless connections with many people. Brian was a faithful member of St. James Anglican Church, where he served as Warden for numerous years. He was a Rotary member for over 20 years, including three terms as President, and he was instrumental in bringing the Doctor Recruitment Program to fruition. On Saturdays you could hear him cheering on the Sunderland FC "lads" while watching British football. In his spare time Brian used to enjoy fishing, playing solitaire, and doing crossword puzzles. He could fix anything around the house, and he spent many hours outside in the summer tending his gardens or reading the paper on the patio. Though his health struggles in recent years caused him to be a shadow of the person we knew, he remained gentle, grateful, and easy-going. Our Husband, Dad, and Grandad will be missed by those who loved him, and by many who knew him. Brian’s family would like to thank Dr. Perkin and the staff of the Courtyard at Fairfield Park for the care given to him. Family and friends are invited for visitation at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg, on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 5-7pm. Visitation will continue at St. James Anglican Church (719 James, St Wallaceburg) on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 10am until the time of funeral service at 11am.
