James Labombard

James Frederick Labombard, a resident of Wallaceburg, passed away peacefully at Fairfield Park on Wednesday, January 04, 2012 at the age of 83. Jim is the beloved husband and best friend of Peggy (nee Burgess) for 26 years. Loving father of Mathew (Lori), the late John (Nov. 2011) and father-in-law of Barbara Labombard. Loving stepfather of Margie Bros (Alex) and Eric Kilbreath. Very proud grandfather of Cameron Labombard (Heather), Carla Labombard (Reid), Christopher Labombard (Samantha), Lori Labombard, Jack Bros, Sophie Bros and great grandchildren Lily Labombard and Isaac James Labombard. Dear brother of Mary Jane Keller (Stuart). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law and Helen Labombard. Predeceased by his parents Frederick and Selena (Low) Labombard. Jim worked as an auto mechanic with his father at Labombard Auto Electric Service in Chatham and as owner of Labombard’s in Wallaceburg. He became an automotive teacher at Wallaceburg District Secondary School in 1965 where he started the Co-Op program and retired as Head of Guidance in 1990. He was also co-owner of Dean’s Jewelry Store in Wallaceburg. He was a member of the Kinsmen Club, the Legion, the Knights of Columbus, the Power Squadron and the Hunt Club. Jim Loved life to the fullest and will be missed by all who knew him. The family would like to thank all of the family and friends who made Jim’s 12 year journey with dementia bearable, and to the staff and administration at Fairfield Park for giving Jim three and a half years of quality living. Friends may call at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Sunday. Parish Prayers will be held at 3:30 on Sunday. The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Our Lady Help of Christians Church on Monday, January 9 at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Riverview Cemetery.
